Our History of Homeless Outreach
In the winter of 1979, four members of a spirited Presbyterian Church in Lake Claire, Atlanta, responded to a call to a homeless ministry. They invited three homeless men to come to their church, Clifton Presbyterian, where the men could shower, share a meal, and spend the night. Over 46 years and 25,000 guests later, Clifton Sanctuary Ministries continues to provide a place for rest, sanctuary, and nourishment for eighteen homeless men every night of the year: providing true Christian hospitality.

In 2002, Clifton Presbyterian Church ceased to be a worshiping congregation. By this time, the shelter program had become a stand-alone 501(c) (3) not-for-profit ministry supported by many churches and individuals. Innovative programs, including a health/wellness initiative have been added, transforming a wonderful shelter into a lively, exciting ministry where men’s lives are changed and our community is made stronger.
Our Mission: Clifton Sanctuary Ministries provides a transformational environment to homeless men through comprehensive life skills training and counseling that empower their pursuit of self-sufficiency and independent living.
Our Vision: A World where homelessness is not helplessness and disability is not inability.
